I think we can all agree that owning a piece of history that belonged to one of your predecessors is a very personal and wonderful thing. Jewellery pieces, toys or furniture – the emotional connection to the past or that person is real and for many it is arguably their most valued possession.
What Goldsmith Debbie did here was to take two existing bands that was handed down from passed on family members, and with the least amount of impact to the original pieces, created something ‘new’ and really special. The yellow gold band was pretty much kept in it’s original form except for the setting that was made for the Mabe pearl. The white gold band that belonged to another family member was cut open, slightly shaped and wrapped around the mabe to become part of the setting for the pearl.
It worked very nicely and I’m really glad we were part of the journey of these rings that will one day be handed down to the next generation as well
